Our Zero Carbon range of services are designed to offset your waste carbon impact on the environment by planting trees for every bin/collection made.
For every bin collected, a number of trees will be planted to offset your carbon footprint. For every collection, a certain number of trees* will be planted in our grove.
Trees for Life are a charitable organisation rewilding the Scottish Highlands by planting trees to reduce carbon and combat climate change.
How it works
Each time your bin is collected, a number of trees* will be planted by Trees for Life within the SkipsAndBins.com grove. Collectively we can offset carbon and watch our grove grow each month.
How we work it out
Trees for Life calculate it takes 6 trees to offset 1 tonne of carbon over their entire lifetime. To dispose of your waste, carbon is produced from the vehicles collecting your waste right through to transporting it and disposing of it via landfill or energy from waste.
Many factors influence the exact amount of carbon produced, such as age of vehicle and emissions, distance travelled to collect and dispose of your waste, as well as how much waste you have produced per collection.
The figures below calculate how many trees will be planted to offset the maximum amount of carbon in order to state ‘Zero’ carbon.
*How many trees will be planted?
These figures provide a guide to the number of trees depending on weight of the waste collected:
Bins
15-25Kg weight allowance = 1 tree per bin/collection
30-60Kg weight allowance = 2 trees per bin/collection
